TWAS-DBT Postgraduate Fellowship Programme at UNESCO 2024

TWAS and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) offer postgraduate scholarships to nationals of developing countries other than India. The TWAS-DBT Postgraduate Fellowship fields include Agricultural Sciences, Structural, Cell, and Molecular Biology, Biological Systems and Organisms, Medical and Health Sciences incl. Neurosciences, and Chemical Sciences.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Applicants must be nationals of developing countries other than India.
• Applicants should not be older than 35 years of age.
• Applicants must not hold any visa for temporary or permanent residency in India or any developed country.
• Applicants must hold a Master's or equivalent degree in science or engineering.
• Applicants must be registered at a university in India for full-time fellowships.
• Applicants must be accepted at a biotechnology institution in India.
• Applicants must provide evidence that they will return to their home country on completion of the fellowship.
• Applicants must not take up other assignments during the period of their fellowship.

Application Process:

• Interested candidates must apply online for the fellowship.
• The candidates must submit the following documents:
  • The Acceptance Letter from an Indian biotechnology institution.
  • Reference letters must be on letterhead and signed by the referee.

Value of the Fellowship:

• The successful applicants will receive the following benefits:
  • A monthly stipend of Rs. 37,000 (Years 1 and 2),
  • A monthly stipend of Rs. 42,000 (Year 3)
  • House rent allowance,
  • Health insurance of Rs. 600 per month.
  • A contingency amount of Rs. 50,000 per annum.
