Eligibility Criteria for Funded MRes/PhD studentships in Economics at University of Surrey 2025:

• Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree with first-class honours (or international equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
• Applicants must typically also hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field, though exceptional candidates without a Master’s may also be considered.
• Applicants must submit a recent GRE General Test score (Quantitative Reasoning section only).
  • Applications without GRE will not be considered.
  • Surrey Economics graduates are exempt from this requirement.
• Applicants must meet the English language requirement:
  • IELTS Academic: 6.5 overall, with at least 6.0 in each element
  • Other equivalent tests are also accepted.
• Applicants are not required to submit a research proposal.
  • A brief statement of research interests should be included in the cover letter.

Value of Funded MRes/PhD studentships in Economics at University of Surrey 2025:

• Full tuition fees covered (UK or international) for the entire MRes + PhD duration
• Annual stipend: £20,780 (2024–25), plus £2,460 for teaching duties
• £750 yearly research allowance for expenses and conference travel
• Additional funding available for international research visits and extra research costs
