    The primary aim of the Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master’s (CGS M) Program is to foster the development of research competencies and facilitate the training of proficient individuals by endorsing students who exhibit an exceptional level of performance during their undergraduate and early graduate academic pursuits.

    Eligibility Criteria:

    • Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Canada.
    • Applicants must be enrolled for full-time admission to an eligible graduate program at the master’s or doctoral level at a Canadian institution with a CGS M allocation.
    • Applicants must not have held or be currently holding a CGS M scholarship from CIHR, NSERC, or SSHRC.
    • Applicants must not have held or be currently holding an Indigenous Scholars Award and Supplement.
    • Applicants must have achieved a first-class average (3.5 GPA or A- average at U of T), in each of the last two completed years of study (full-time equivalent).
    • Applicants must submit a maximum of one scholarship (master’s or doctoral) or fellowship application per academic year to either CIHR, NSERC, or SSHRC. 

    Application Process:

    • All eligible candidates must complete and submit an online application to be considered for the scholarship.
    • The application should include the following components:
      • Outline of proposed research (as PDF attachment),
      • All academic transcripts from undergraduate, graduate, and exchange/transfer host institutions where the grade does not appear on the home institution transcript (scanned together as a single PDF document),
      • Canadian Common CV (uploaded as a confirmation number),
      • Completed two reference assessments.

    Value of the Scholarship:

    • All successful candidates are awarded a sum of CAD 17,500 for one year.
