The Neuromorphic Cyber Security at the Edge project offers a unique opportunity for highly motivated graduates to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree under the guidance of Neuromorphic Engineering pioneer, Professor André van Schaik, at one of the world's leading neuromorphic engineering research labs. The project focuses on designing a Neuromorphic processor that dynamically learns the normal operating states of edge devices to detect, prevent, and report anomalous behavior and communications.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must hold qualifications and experience equal to one of the following
- (i) an Australian First Class Bachelor (Honours) degree,
- (ii) coursework Masters with at least 25% research component,
- (iii) Research Masters degree, or
- (iv) equivalent overseas qualifications in electrical engineering, or computer science.
- Applicants must have demonstrated research experience in neuromorphic engineering.
- Applicants must have a background in signal processing with strong programming skills in Python, Matlab, and/or C++, and an interest in signal processing in biology.
- Applicants must be enthusiastic and highly motivated to undertake further study at an advanced level.

- Selected candidates are awarded the following benefits:
- Domestic candidates - A tax-free stipend of AUD 30,000 yearly towards living costs.
- International candidates - A tax-free stipend of AUD 30,000 yearly towards living costs. Candidates with a strong track record may be eligible for a tuition fee waiver.
- Support for conference attendance, fieldwork, and additional costs approved by MARCS.
