The Estonian School of Diplomacy (ESD), jointly with the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, offers scholarships for young diplomats and civil servants to participate in its 8-month certificate program on International Relations and Diplomacy.
Eligibility
- The scholarship is open to citizens of Uganda, Ukraine, Kenya, Georgia, Armenia, Botswana, Moldova, and Namibia.
- The applicant should hold at least an undergraduate degree.
- The applicant should be hard-working, cooperative, and ready for a cross-cultural study environment.
- The applicant must be currently employed by the foreign or civil service of their country.
- Priority is given to candidates who intend to continue their professional careers in the civil or diplomatic service of their country.
Application Process:
- Interested candidates must apply online.
- The applicants must submit the following documents:
- Application with a passport-sized photo
- CV in English
- Personal statement explaining the reasons for applying, the relevant previous experience, and how studying at ESD will benefit future professional development.
- Copy of the degree diploma from the institution of higher education attended most recently.
- Copy of the academic record from the institution of higher education attended most recently.
- Copy of passport photo.
- An academic essay of 4 pages to be written on one of the topics below:
- Impact of the War in Ukraine on the Future of Europe
- China – a Partner or a Foe?
- Is the Green Revolution Possible??
- Digital Diplomacy – Interim Measure or Way Forward?
- The application must reach the university by August 5, 2024, at the latest.
- Selected participants are expected to arrive in Tallinn on 8-14 October 2024.
Value of the Scholarship:

- Accommodation in Tallinn (including internet and utilities)
- Reimbursement for health insurance for the period of study
