In honour of Lord Michael Sandberg of Passfield, OBE, CBE, who departed in 2017 and was regarded as a genuine friend of Hong Kong, the Li Ka Shing Foundation established the Lord Sandberg Memorial Scholarship. A three-year undergraduate program at King's that is intended to be pursued full-time by permanent Hong Kong residents is to be supported by the Li Ka Shing Foundation Lord Sandberg Memorial Scholarship. The applicant's academic record and financial need—which will be assessed through a personal statement—will be taken into consideration when determining the scholarship recipient. Although applicants from any Hong Kong school are welcome, local pupils will be given priority.
Eligibility for Li Ka Shing Foundation Lord Sandberg Memorial Scholarship at King's College London:
- The candidate must be a permanent resident of Hong Kong.
- The applicant must have exceptional academic standing.
- The applicant should provide a personal statement detailing their financial hardships.
- Beginning in September 2023, the candidate must enrol in a full-time, three-year undergraduate program at King's.
