Klaus-Jürgen Bathe Leadership Scholarships 2024

Every year, a select group of UCT undergraduate students with demonstrated leadership potential receive the Klaus-Jürgen Bathe Leadership Scholarships. These scholarships are meant to support the scholars financially while they pursue their chosen degree programs at UCT and to help them further develop their leadership skills through extracurricular program activities. Ultimately, the goal is to better prepare the recipients for future leadership roles in South Africa and other African nations.

Eligibility for Klaus-Jürgen Bathe Leadership Scholarships:

All undergraduate students enrolled in any one of UCT's six faculties are eligible to apply for the Klaus-Jürgen Bathe Leadership Program. Both during and after their first year of study, students are eligible to apply. At the time of the award, there must be two years left in the degree program, nevertheless. The scholarship must be maintained for a minimum of two years. Master's students are not eligible. Although it is anticipated that most of the scholars will be South African nationals, applicants from other sub-Saharan African nations are also encouraged to submit their applications. Candidates from outside of South Africa must, however, show that they are committed to serving the continent for ten years or more following their education. They have to pledge to support their nations as well.
