Graduate Student Travel Awards at College of Graduate Studies 2025

Eligibility

• The Graduate Student Travel Award (GSTA) is available to all matriculated graduate students in good academic standing at San José State University (SJSU).
• Applicants must be traveling to either collect data for a program-related RSCA project or present RSCA work at a conference or similar event.
• The award is typically not available for students wishing to attend conferences without presenting work or for travel related to study abroad programs.

Scholarship Value and Benefits

• Domestic Travel: Up to $1,500 for in-person travel and $500 for virtual presentations.
• International Travel: Up to $2,000 for in-person international congresses.
• The GSTA may cover travel expenses, including registration fees and other related costs.
• Reimbursement: Travel expenses are reimbursed after travel, with a possibility of advance payment assistance in cases of financial hardship.

Application Process

• Deadline: Submit applications at least 3 weeks before domestic travel and 6 weeks for international travel.
• Application Form: Apply via the designated application form.
• Documentation: Provide research advisor confirmation (memo or email) of travel support from a tenured or tenure-track faculty member.
• Application Review: Applications are reviewed in the order received, with priority given to travel that advances active RSCA projects or invited conference presentations.
