Carlsberg Foundation Internationalisation Fellowships 2025

Through its Internationalisation Fellowships, the Carlsberg Foundation wishes to promote the internationalization of Danish talents and talent development in Danish research. These scholarships are given to up-and-coming PhD candidates for a one-to-two-year continuous research period at a top global research center outside of Denmark.

Eligibility Criteria of Carlsberg Foundation Internationalisation Fellowships:

• Applicant must hold a PhD degree OR
• Must have received the final assessment of the PhD thesis.
• Applicants must show a solid connection to Danish research meaning -
  • They must hold a degree from a Danish research institute and subsequently have been employed at a Danish research institute; OR
  • Be strongly connected to Danish research through personal or family relations; OR
  • The candidate intends to return to Danish research upon the completion of their stay.
• Applicants with more than three years of experience are not eligible.
• Applicants already affiliated with the research institution where the project is to be carried out are not eligible.
• Applicants cannot apply for the fellowship for the continuation of other post-doctoral fellowships abroad.
• Applicants must arrange the room and board at the institution where the research will be carried out.

Application Process:

• Interested candidates must apply online for the fellowship.
• The application should include the following documents:
  • Project description
  • Budget
  • Curriculum vitae and list of publications
  • Housing commitment from the host institution
  • Recommendations.

Value of the Fellowship:

• The selected candidates are awarded the following benefits:
  • DKK 450,000 per year if the applicant is traveling alone.
  • DKK 500,000 per year if the applicant is traveling with a partner.
  • DKK 550,000 per year if the applicant is traveling with a partner and children.

Note: The candidate can submit applications for up to an extra DKK 60,000 annually to pay for increased high rent and living costs, if moving to an expensive location.
