- Applicants must be enrolled in a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), an associated conjoint degree, or a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) (LLB(Hons)) at the University of Auckland.
- Students must achieve a minimum grade of A- in the course LAWGENRL 424 (Negotiation, Mediation and Dispute Resolution).

The recipient will be the student who achieves the highest mark in LAWGENRL 424.
