The purpose of the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme is to provide scholarships for students from developing commonwealth countries, who would not otherwise be able to study in the UK. The scheme is a collaborative effort between the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and UK universities, including the University of Birmingham.
Eligibility for University of Birmingham Commonwealth Shared Scholarships:
- The candidate must be a citizen of a Commonwealth nation or have been given refugee status by one of those nations.
- The candidate must be a permanent resident of one of the Commonwealth nations.
- By September 2024, when the UK academic year begins, the candidate should be able to begin their studies there.
- The candidate must have a first degree with at least an upper second-class (2:1) honors level by September 2024, or a lower second-class degree (2:2) with a relevant postgraduate degree (typically a Master's degree).
- The applicant shouldn't have worked or studied in a high-income nation for longer than a year (academically).
- The applicant shouldn't be able to finance their studies without this scholarship.
