TWAS-CSIR Postgraduate Fellowships in India, 2023

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) of India and TWAS are offering TWAS-CSIR Postgraduate Fellowships in India, in 2024 to foreign scholars interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in Science and Technology.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Applicants must be nationals of a developing country other than India.
• Applicants must be a maximum age of 35 on 31 December of the application year.
• Applicants are required to hold a Master's degree in science and technology.
• Candidates must be regularly employed in their home country and hold a research assignment there.
• Applicants must not hold any visa for temporary or permanent residency in India or any developed country.
• Applicants are required to be fluent in English. They must provide evidence of proficiency in English if the medium of education is not English.
• Applicants must be accepted at a CSIR laboratory/institution.
• Applicants must provide evidence that they will return to their home country on completion of the fellowship.
• Applicants must not take up other assignments during the period of their fellowship.
• Applicant must be financially responsible for any accompanying family members.
• Applicants who are already enrolled in a PhD program in their home country must provide the "Registration and No Objection Certificate" from the Home university.

Application Process:

• The application must be submitted online only.
• Preliminary acceptance is mandatory, hence applicants should submit the acceptance letter from an eligible CSIR institution to CSIR and TWAS.
• The applicant must send a copy of the submitted application to CSIR by email.

Value of the Scholarship:

• The successful applicants will receive a monthly stipend to cover the following costs:
  • Living costs
  • Food expenses
  • Health insurance
• Subsidized accommodation

Note: The monthly stipend will not be convertible to foreign currency.
