The Retention of Oil/Organic Wastes in Low Carbon Cementitious Wasteforms for Radioactive Waste Disposal
Eligibility:
- This PhD opportunity is available to UK students or EU students with 3 years of UK residency, holding at least an upper second-class honours degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, bioscience, or a related technical subject.
- Candidates should have a strong interest in cement materials, geopolymers, and waste management.
- Non-native English speakers must meet the University of Sheffield’s English language requirements, with an IELTS score of 6.5 overall and at least 6.0 in each component.
Benefits/Value:
- This is a fully funded PhD studentship supported by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and Sellafield Ltd. It covers tuition fees and provides an enhanced tax-free stipend starting at £20,780, with annual increases in line with the UKRI base rate.
- In addition, there is a £46,500 research support and training grant for the duration of the award (4 years).
- The studentship is also part of the SATURN Centre for Doctoral Training, offering exceptional training and development opportunities in the nuclear sector.
