University of Waikato - Sir William Gallagher Cyber Security Scholarships in New Zealand is open to students enrolling in the Master of Cyber Security (MCS) program at the University of Waikato.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants may come from any nationality.
- Applicants must be commencing enrolment during A Trimester 2025 in one of the following as part of the Master of Cyber Security (MCS) at the University:
- a) COMPX592 – Dissertation (60-points); or
- b) COMPX593 – Computer Science thesis (90 points).
- Applicants must have completed the majority of taught papers for Part 1 of the Master of Cyber Security by the end of the year of application.
- Applicants must have achieved at least a ‘B+’ GPA for their most recent 120 points of study.
- Applicants must have a strong interest in the field of cyber security, show innovative thinking or entrepreneurship ability, and have career aspirations in the field of cyber security.
Application Process:
All eligible candidates must apply online to be considered for the scholarship. The application should include the following components:
- Personal statement outlining the following:
- The area of research that interests the candidate the most in the field of cyber security, and the reasons for the interest;
- A potential research topic and its relevance to Gallagher;
- Examples of how the candidates have demonstrated innovative thinking or entrepreneurship ability;
- Career aspirations.
- An academic reference attesting to the candidate's ability to succeed in the Master of Cyber Security.
Value of the Scholarship:
The successful candidates are awarded the scholarship based on the following quotas:
- NZD 7,000 towards the tuition fees,
- NZD 13,000 is paid directly into the recipient’s bank account in equal monthly installments over the 12-month tenure.
