Scottish Arts Scholarship at The College Of Wooster 2024-25

Eligibility Criteria for the Scholarship:

• The applicants should be first-year but not transfer students.
• The applicants should be enrolled in any of the programs at the university.
• The applicants must display potential in the following categories:

     Pipers: They must be prepared to play one or more selections, for a total of 5-7 minutes of playing, comprised of the following choices:

• • 2/4 March and or Strathspey and Reel
  • 4/4 Marches, 3/4 Marches, or 6/8 Marches
  • Hornpipe and Jig
  • Slow March
  • Piobaireachd Ground and 1st Variation (optional)

     Dancers: They must be prepared to perform two of the following, as chosen by the panel of judges:

• • Lilt
  • Sword Dance
  • Seann Triubhas
  • Strathspey & Reel (optional)

     Drummers: They must be prepared to perform the following:

• • 2/4 March and/or Strathspey and Reel
  • 4/4 Marches, 3/4 Marches, or 6/8 Marches
  • Hornpipe and Jig
  • A Drum Solo (optional)

Application Instructions:

• All eligible candidates must first complete and apply for admission for Early Decision or Early Action.
• The candidates must complete the Scottish Arts Scholarship Application Form.
• They must submit one or two letters of recommendation.
• They must attend the audition weekend held on-campus in Scheide Music Center.
• Students are highly recommended to participate in an in-person audition on either February 1, 2025 or February 15, 2025.

Value of the Scholarship:

• The successful applicants will receive from USD 2,000 to 8,000 per year.
• The lesson fees are reduced to $25/semester for half-hour weekly private lessons on the instrument of their audition.
