Post-Doctoral Fellowship at University of Virginia 2024

The Carter G. Woodson Institute’s distinguished fellowship program offers a two-year position for post-doctoral research associates whose work focuses on African American and African Diasporic Studies, including but not limited to research pertaining to African American, Caribbean, Latin American, African, and/or Diasporic contexts. Scholars selected for the fellowship program are required to relocate to the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia to join a cohort of interdisciplinary scholars.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Applicants may come from any nationality.
• Applicants must hold a PhD degree.
• Applicants must have received their PhD no later than six years before the application deadline.
• The recipients must be in residence at UVa in Charlottesville, Virginia, for the duration of the award period.
• Recipients must agree to teach one course per year in the African-American and African Studies program during the Fall or Spring semester.

• Three letters of recommendation by persons qualified to evaluate the proposals for which support is being sought,
