The United Kingdom's Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) is in charge of monitoring Britain's participation in the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP). Grants are provided by UK universities in partnership with the Department for International Development (developing Commonwealth countries), the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, and the Scottish Government (developed Commonwealth countries). Under the CSFP, the CSC also recommends UK nationals for scholarships to pursue higher education in other Commonwealth nations.
Eligibility for Commonwealth Scholarship at Lancaster University:
- The candidate must be a British Protected Person, a citizen of one of the qualifying Commonwealth nations, or have been given refugee status by one of those nations.
- The candidate must be a permanent resident of a Commonwealth nation
- By September 2024, when the UK academic year officially begins, the applicant must be available to begin academic studies in the UK.
- The candidate must have at least an upper second-class (2:1) honors degree in their first degree by September 2024, or a lower second-class degree with a suitable postgraduate certificate (typically a Master's degree). Normally, the CSC wouldn't pay for a second master's degree. Those who are applying for a second Master's degree need to explain why they want to pursue this course of study.
