    Robert Bell Travelling Scholarship in Journalism is offered by the University of Canterbury for students who have graduated from the Journalism program at the university. The value of the scholarship is $15,000 for the tenure of one year, for students to travel overseas to research news media and other means of public communication. Preference is given to applicants whose proposals are likely to benefit New Zealand in particular.

    Eligibility Criteria of the Scholarship:

    • Applicants may come from any nationality.
    • Applicants must have completed the requirements for a qualification in the Journalism program from the University of Canterbury.
    • Applicants must have three years of professional experience in journalism.
    • Applicants must be employed as journalists.
    • Applicants must demonstrate how their research during the tenure of the Robert Bell Travelling Scholarship would reach an audience. Applicants must provide an outline of the content that would be published along with a letter of support from their intended media partner/publisher.

    Application Process:

    All eligible candidates must apply online to be considered for the scholarship.

    Value of the Scholarship:

    The successful candidates are awarded a scholarship of NZD 25,000.
