Care Leaver and Estranged Student Bursary at University of Surrey 2024

Care Leaver and Estranged Student Bursary Overview:

• Supports students who are either Care Leavers or Estranged Students.
• Care Leavers: Must have been in local authority care for at least 13 weeks since the age of 14, and in care after turning 16.

Estranged Students:

• Must be estranged from both parents/carers, with various conditions (lack of contact, parents unreachable, or health issues preventing contact).

Eligibility:

• Must be a full-time undergraduate student.
• Must be a UK student.
• Must pay full tuition fees (NHS-funded and other funded students are ineligible).

 Care Leaver and Estranged Student Bursary Details:

• Annual bursary of £3,000.

• Additional £500 paid upon graduation to assist with transition expenses.

• This bursary cannot be combined with the University of Surrey Bursary.

Application Process:

• Eligible students will be contacted by the Student Success Team using enrolment information.
