The Global Korea Scholarship is intended to give foreign students the chance to pursue academic degrees in Korean higher education institutions, thereby promoting international education exchange and strengthening bonds of goodwill between Korea and participating nations.
Eligibility:
- Nationality:
- All candidates must be nationals of nations invited to participate in the GKS program that has been designated by the NIIED.
- The parents or legal guardians of the applicant must be citizens of a nation other than Korea. Applicants who possess dual citizenship, meaning they are citizens of both Korea and another country, or their parents are not eligible to apply.
- In the case of overseas Korean candidates in the Japanese embassy track, they are exceptionally eligible to apply if their parents are citizens of Korea and hold a "Permanent Residency Permit" in Japan.
- The R&D and Global Network program is open to applicants from any country in the world.
- Level of Education:
- A certificate of projected graduation is also required for applicants who plan to graduate by July 31st, 2024, in order to be considered for the program. By July 31st, 2024, such applicants must send their official diploma or graduation certificate and their final academic transcript to the GKS Center, NIIED. Your acceptance will be canceled if you don't comply.
- Grades:
- A student should rank in the top 20% of their class or have a score percentile of 80% or above on a 100-point scale.
- The CGPA needs to be 2.64/4.0, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/4.5, or 3.23/5.0, or above.
- Applicants must submit an academic transcript with CGPA or ranking information.
- The applicant must provide a transcript transformed into one of the aforementioned GPA scales as a supplemental document if the transcript does not give the applicant's CGPA in any of the recognized GPA scales (4.0, 4.3, 4.5, 5.0, or 100-point scale).
- Age:
- Must be under 40 years of age (born after September 1, 1984)
- Academic professors in one of the Official Development Assistance (ODA) recipients* who are under 45 years of age (born after September 1, 1979) are eligible to apply.
- Health:
- All applicants must be in good health, both mentally and physically, to study in Korea for the full duration of the program.
