The Dorris Warren Shaw Scholarship

The Dorris Warren Shaw Scholarship is intended to support students who are enrolled in teacher preparation programs, particularly those who are committed to becoming educators in fields such as Child and Adolescent Development (CHAD-Plan A), Teacher Education (TED), and Special Education. This scholarship seeks to assist students who demonstrate academic potential, a strong commitment to the teaching profession, and a financial need. The award is designed to help students continue their education and training to become effective and compassionate educators who can make a lasting impact on students' lives.

Eligibility

To qualify for the Dorris Warren Shaw Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Minimum GPA:

• A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.
  Enrollment Requirements:
• Applicants must be enrolled at least part-time in an eligible program:
• Undergraduate or credential students must be enrolled in at least 6 units.
  Graduate students must be enrolled in at least 4 units.

Teacher Preparation Program:

• Applicants must be enrolled in one of the following teacher preparation programs:
  
  • Child and Adolescent Development (CHAD-Plan A)
  • Teacher Education (TED)
  • Special Education

Financial Need:

• Applicants must qualify for financial aid.
  Additionally, the recipient of this scholarship must write a thank you note to the donor expressing appreciation for the award.

Value

• Award Amount: $1,000.00

Scope:

• This scholarship is available to students within the College of Education who are pursuing a teaching career through one of the eligible teacher preparation programs (CHAD-Plan A, TED, Special Education).
