This scholarship, which is funded by Stuart Mitchell, MA Mediaeval History 1987, is a component of the Wardlaw Scholarship program, which was started in 2004 to help academically talented students who might otherwise find it difficult to afford their studies at the University of St Andrews. Candidates who attended a public school on one of the Scottish Islands are eligible for the award; however, students who attended Portree High School in Skye are given precedence.
