Loughborough University Women in Science Bursary 2025

The Women in Science Bursary (GBP 1000 annually) is a scholarship offered by the School of Science to women applicants to support their academic pursuits at Loughborough University and help them become future scientists employed in industry or academia.

Eligibility Criteria for Loughborough University Women in Science Bursary 2024/25:

Applicants must:

• Be women applying for undergraduate studies.
• Be considering entry in 2025 to any undergraduate program in one of the following subjects:
  • Computer Science
  • Chemistry
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Natural Sciences
• Submit an application with a personal statement (~500 words) addressing:
  • Their interest in science or mathematics.
  • Ideas to improve recruitment and retention of women and underrepresented groups in science.
  • How the bursary will support their goals at university.
• Show satisfactory academic progression, i.e., achieving a 2:1 (or above) overall mark each year to continue receiving the bursary.
• Submit the application by 4th June 2025

Application Process:

Students must submit an application form and a personal statement mentioning their interest in Science and math.

Value of the Scholarship:

£1,000 per annum for the duration of the undergraduate course (excluding any placement year).

Includes:

• Mentorship by a senior woman academic in the School of Science.
• Opportunity to work with Women in Science ambassadors.
• Option to become a paid student helper for outreach and engagement.
