The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars is providing fellowships to undergraduate students who wish to launch their careers in the U.S. Department of State’s Foreign Service. Women, members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service and are in financial need.
Eligibility for the Foreign Affairs Information Technology Fellowship:
- Applicants must be US nationals and enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time IT-related degree program at a U.S.-based accredited institution.
- Candidates must be on a timeline to earn their degree (bachelor’s or master’s) after attending four full-time semesters during their two years of the FAIT Fellowship program.
- Students must hold a minimum cumulative 3.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale at the time of the application, and maintain this GPA throughout the program.
Documents required:
- A copy of the certification of U.S. citizenship
- GRE/GMAT scores
- Statement of Financial Need
- An updated resume
- Personal statement
- An unofficial copy of transcripts (all schools attended)
- A most recent Student Aid Report (SAR)
- A most recent financial aid award letter listing grants or loans
- Request letters from two recommenders.
Benefits:
- Up to $43,500 annually in academic funding for tuition, room and board, books, mandatory fees, and some travel expenses.
- Stipends, housing, and travel allowances for the two summer internships: A domestic internship in Washington, D.C., at the U.S. Department of State and an overseas internship at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate abroad.
