Chinese-English Translation Scholarships 2025-26

• The University of Essex is offering five £3,000 scholarships for international students holding an offer for any of the Chinese-English Translation and Interpreting programmes within the Department of Language and Linguistics.
• The scholarships will be granted based on academic merit.

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants must have received a conditional firm or unconditional firm offer to study full-time on one of the Chinese-English Translation and Interpreting courses for the 2025-26 academic year.
• Eligible courses include:MA Chinese-English Translation and Professional Practice
• MA Conference Interpreting and Translation (Chinese-English)
  MA Advanced Interpreting with Specialised Translation (Chinese-English)
• PG Diploma in Chinese-English Translation
• Only overseas fee-paying, self-funded students are eligible.
• The scholarship is awarded once per student and cannot be combined with other University of Essex scholarships.
• Successful applicants should be available for promotional activities.

Students Who Are Not Eligible

• This scholarship does not apply to deferred entry; if a student defers, the scholarship will be withdrawn.
• Sponsored students (either fully or partly) are not eligible.
• Current students whose first year of postgraduate study at the University of Essex was prior to the 2025-26 academic year are not eligible.
• The scholarship cannot be continued for students repeating any period of study.

How to Apply

• No separate application form is required.
• All course applications submitted by 30 June 2025 will be automatically considered for this scholarship.

Selection Process

• Scholarships will be awarded based on academic excellence and interview performance.
• The final selection is made by a panel of academic and administrative staff using the information provided in the original course application.

Notification

• Successful candidates will be notified by the end of July 2025 by the University’s Funding Team.
• The scholarship offer must be accepted within two weeks or the offer will be forfeited and awarded to the next eligible candidate.
