The International Accommodation bursary acknowledges the higher cost of living in Australia compared to other countries. It provides a significant benefit by offering up to a 50% reduction in accommodation fees for either a 22-week or 44-week contract at the ECU Mount Lawley Student Village. This scholarship is open to new international students planning to study on-campus at ECU in 2023. Additionally, continuing ECU students who initially started their on-campus course online due to COVID-19 travel restrictions and will be transitioning to on-campus studies for the first time are also eligible for this bursary.
The opportunity is available to prospective international students who are planning to commence their studies on-campus at ECU Joondalup or ECU Mount Lawley in 2022. These students must accept their course offer within the specified period from 2nd September 2022 to 6th August 2023.
Additionally, continuing international students are also eligible if they meet the following criteria:
- They started their studies online during relevant academic teaching periods between 20th July 2020 and 25th July 2022 due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.
- They remained continuously enrolled (in at least one unit) while studying online during the relevant teaching periods.
- They will be transitioning to on-campus studies for the first time at ECU Mount Lawley or ECU Joondalup in 2023.
- The accommodation offer includes a fixed rate of $137.70 per week for a 22-week contract or $127.70 per week for a 44-week contract at the ECU Student Village Mount Lawley. This offer is applicable for stays until 31st December 2023.
- The opportunity is limited to the first 100 eligible applicants, and it will be provided on a first-come-first-served basis for rooms in a 5-bedroom shared poolside apartment at the ECU Mount Lawley Campus.
Eligibility Guidelines for 2023 International Accommodation Bursary:
- The student must be an international student (not an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, or New Zealand Citizen).
- The candidate must enroll in an undergraduate or master's by coursework program on-campus for the first time at ECU Joondalup or ECU Mount Lawley in 2023.
- The applicant must comply with mandatory vaccination and travel requirements set by the Australian and Western Australian Governments.
- For new future students, acceptance of the offer should be made between 2nd September 2022 and 6th August 2023, for studying at ECU Joondalup or ECU Mount Lawley.
- For continuing students, should have commenced their studies online between the academic teaching periods of 20th July 2020 and 25th July 2022 due to COVID-19 and will be transitioning to on-campus studies for the first time in 2023. Proof of valid Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) or offshore status may be required during the application.
- At all relevant times, the candidate must also fulfill the entry and ongoing accommodation requirements of the ECU Student Village Mount Lawley and should not be receiving any government scholarship or industry sponsorship for their studies.
Terms and Conditions:
- The recipient must maintain eligibility and adhere to the guidelines and conditions throughout 2023.
- Enrollment in 60 credit points each semester or study period in 2023 is mandatory.
- Continuous good standing academically and financially is required.
- The student is responsible for meeting travel and vaccination requirements set by the Australian and Western Australian Governments, as specified on the provided links.
- Adherence to the Western Australian government's safe transition plan and any travel restrictions is essential.
- The bursary may be canceled if the recipient does not enroll in their units of study or pay tuition fees on time.
- The recipient must reside continuously at ECU Student Village Mount Lawley; otherwise, they become ineligible.
- Receiving another government scholarship, industry sponsorship, or grant may render the recipient ineligible at ECU's discretion.
- The recipient must comply with ECU's statutes, rules, policies, and applicable visa requirements.
- Any change in circumstances that may affect ongoing eligibility must be promptly notified to ECU.
- The bursary covers accommodation for one bedroom and shared amenities in a 5-bedroom poolside apartment at the ECU Student Village Mount Lawley.
- Payment will be made directly to the village operator and is non-redeemable for cash or student credit. Unused portions may require reimbursement to ECU.
- ECU reserves the right to revoke the bursary if false or misleading information is provided or if the recipient fails to comply with the ongoing conditions.
- ECU may decline to award bursaries if suitable applicants are not found, and the bursary may be withdrawn from offering without notice.
